Career EnticementLouisiana has a shortage of health care workers, so there are more jobs than there are trained workers to fill them. These workers are especially needed in the rural and underserved areas of our state. Also, new advances in technology increase the number of health care specialties daily.
 Why should a young person consider a health career?- an opportunity to help others - challenges and new discoveries - job availability and a stable income - job security - more income and benefits than most careers - greater mobility and freedom to choose where you want to live and work - an opportunity for advancement NLAHEC and our community partners have collaborated to develop programs to provide hands-on learning opportunities for high school students interested in health careers.
