Louisiana Hospital Association Coding Brown-Bag Webinars 2010 · RAC MS-DRG Assignments and Principal Diagnosis April 22, 2010 12:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. This Webinar will foucs on MS DRGs which have been identified as high risk for review as part of the RAC process. · ICD-9 CM Coding Foundations 1 Defending Your Codes June 1, 2010 12:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. Students will review and assess conventions for ICD-9 CM format, abbreviations, punctuation, includes and excludes notes and inclusion terms, other and unspecified codes, and, with, see and see also. · ICD-9 CM Coding Foundations 2 Defending Your Codes June 29, 2010 12:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. Students will review and access: general coding guidelines: alphabetic index and tabular list, locate terms in alphabetic index, level of detail coding. · ICD-9 CM Coding Foundations 3 Defending Your Codes July 30, 2010 10:00 p.m. 11:30 a.m. Students will review and assess: signs and symptoms, conditions that are and are not integral to the disease process. · ICD-9 CM Coding Foundations 4 Defending Your Codes August 19, 2010 12:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. Students will review and assess: general coding guidelines, multiple coding of a single condition, acute and chronic conditions, combination codes, reporting the same condition more than once. · ICD-9 CM Coding Foundations 5 Defending Your Codes September 2, 2010 12:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. Students will review and assess: diagnostic coding and reporting guidelines for outpatient services, selection of first listed condition, UB 04 Reason for Service, Encounters for circumstances other than a disease or injury. Level of detail in coding, ICD code for the diagnosis, condition, problem, or other reason for encounter/visit, uncertain diagnosis, chronic diseases. · ICD-9 CM Coding Foundations 6 Defending Your Codes September 9, 2010 12:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. Students will review and assess diagnostic coding and reporting guidelines for outpatient services: code all documented and conditions that coexist, diagnostic services only, therapeutic services only, ambulatory surgery, routine outpatient prenatal visits. · ICD-9 CM Coding Foundations 7 Defending Your Codes October 6, 2010 12:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. Students will review and assess inpatient reporting additional diagnoses, how much to code, previous conditions, abnormal findings, uncertain diagnosis, coding recognition and reimbursement. Target Audience: Health Information directors and outpatient coders, business office directors and outpatient billers, compliance officers, CFOs Chargemaster managers and other interested hospital personnel. RAC MS-DRG Assignments and Principal Diagnosis Overview This Webinar will focus on MS DRGs which have been identified as high risk for review as part of the RAC process. ICD-9 CM Coding Foundations Series Overview Students will review and assess conventions for ICD-9 CM: format, abbreviations, punctuation, includes and excludes notes and inclusion terms. General coding guidelines, signs and symptoms, multiple coding of a single condition, diagnostic coding and reporting guidelines for outpatient services. Students will also review and access diagnostic coding and reporting guidelines for inpatient principal diagnosis. Fee per Webinar: $199.00 LHA Member Rate $249.00 Non-Member Rate (includes one phone line per site) Additional phone lines will be billed at the LHA Member/Non-Member rate. Faculty: Jean Ann Hartzell-Minzey, RHIA, CPC, CHA, Vice President, Minzey Business Consultants to Medicine and Senior Consultant/Educator with Healthcare Education Strategies, Inc. Ms. Hartzell is a Healthcare professional with more than twenty-seven (27) years of experience in the areas of management, documentation, education, analysis, auditing, Chargemaster review, pricing, coding, and compliance issues for all healthcare settings. She has experience in physician practices, acute care hospital, home health, skilled nursing, nursing home and ambulatory surgery center management, coding and billing. She is a specialist in reimbursement methodologies (including prospective payment systems) for Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party payors. Ms. Hartzell has developed customized training programs for hospitals, skilled nursing, home health, and LTAC and inpatient rehabilitation. Ms. Hartzell has provided more than three thousand (3,000) workshops nationwide for various hospital associations and national consulting firms. As an instructor for Healthcare Education Strategies, Inc., she has worked with organizations such as St. Anthony Consulting (Ingenix), Cancellation/Refund Policy We realize that problems can occur that may necessitate registration cancellations. Cancellations received in writing up to one week prior to a scheduled event will be charged a cancellation fee of $40.00. This fee covers some of the administrative costs associated with processing refunds. Refunds Cancellations received less than one week prior to the scheduled event or those who fail to attend are non-refundable. However, registrants who are unable to attend an LHA educational event are permitted to and encouraged to send a substitute at no extra charge.
